| Can I use colored film to print black & white pictures using an enlarger? My photo class only uses black and white film but I have some colored rolls of film that I've already gotten developed by a photo lab. | Yes. Using photoshop, you can colorize a black and white image by creating a new layer and setting the blending mode to 'color'. Then while having that layer selected, you paint over it with the desired colours. Be careful not to use over exaggerated colours. | Photoshops the way to go. If you get it convert you photo into blakc and white in photoshop and then use the history brush. Or easier way, you can go image>Hue/Saturation and toggle the saturation down slightly to give it a little color and black and white feel. |

| Not a good plan ... the best way is to shoot in colour and then choose the image you want to make black and white and then desaturate the image and save it as a different name so you don't overwrite your original image. Next using the level tool, you can adjust the black threshold, white threshold and the mid-tones until you have the best possible black and white image ... letting the camera do the work can result in some very poor images. If in the camera is good enough, then ask for a camera that will shoot in black and white as well as sepia ... they will know what to sell you. |

| With digital, it's always better to shoot in color, and change to B&W in post processing. You can change levels for what is black, white and grey for each color in post processing. It saves you from having to use green, red and yellow filters. |

| 1. Open your image in Photoshop 2. Under the 'Layer' menu, go to 'duplicate layer..' and click ok. 3. On the duplicate layer, change it to black and white by going to Image-->Adjustments -->Desaturate. 4. While you're still on the duplicate layer, click on the eraser tool, and using a soft brush, erase any area that you want the color to come through. Hope that helped! |
